Floral Regulations
Fresh Cut Flowers: May be placed on graves at any time through the year.

Artifical & Potted Foral Items: May be placed on graves during the period of October 10th thru April 15th only. All foral items will be removed by cemetary labor on a regular basis as noted on all floral collection signs.

Christmas Items & Other Seasonal Items: May be placed on graves the weekend after Thanksgiving and remain on the grave until January 20th. A general clean-up will begin on or about January 24th each year, weather permitting and will continue until all seasonal decorations have been removed from the graves.

Potted plants, (except as stated above) flags, permanent plantings, statues, vigil lights, glass objects of any kind, and similar commemorative items are not permitted on graves in national cemeteries. All unauthorized items will be removed and disposed of by cemetery labor.

IT IS PROHIBITIED TO SECURE OR AFFIX ANY ITEMS TO THE HEADSTONES/COLUBARIUM.

Presently we can no longer accept the donations and/or planting of trees. All items including permanent flower containers (vases), placed on the gravesites become the property of the United States Goverment and will be disposed of under Federal Regulations. The Long Island National Cemetery is not responsible for anything placed on the gravesites. Families, friends and next of kin should be aware that these items are subject to damage by cemetery equipment and vandals. These items will not be replaced or repaired by the Goverment if they are damaged, lost or stolen. Placement of all items at the gravesites, are at your own risk.
These regulations have been put in place to assist in your selection of floral; items as well as to assist our staff in proper maintenance of our National Shrine.

Floral Regulations
Fresh Cut Flowers: May be placed on graves at any time through the year. Floral items may be removed from graves as soon as they become faded and unsightly.

Artifical Flowers: May be placed on graves only during the period from November 6th to March 30th.

Plantings will not br permitted on graves at any time.

Permanent types of flower containers are NOT AUTHORIZED.

Potted plants and artifical flowers will be permitted on graves during the period 5 days before and 5 days after Easter Sunday, and Memorial Day.

Balloons, statures, vigil lights, glass objects of any nature and with any other type of commemorative items are not permitted on graves at any time.

Floral items & other types of decorations may not be secured to the markers. If found, they will be removed & disposed of in accordance with federal regulations.

During the lawn mowing & ground maintenance season, all floral items will be removed from graves twice a month. The only exception will be during Memorial Day & Veterans Day holiday weeks.

All items placed on gravesites become the property of the United States Government & will be disposed of under Federal Regulations. Calverton National Cemetery is not responsible for flowers after they have been placed on gravesites. Flowers are placed at your own risk. They will not be replaced by the cemetery if they are damaged, lost or stolen.

Transportation is available, weather and ground conditions permitting, to physically challenged visitors needing assistance to gravesites from the hours of 8-4 PM.
